Mutual Fund News for March 2026
LIC Mutual Fund launches diversified technology fund
LIC Mutual Fund has launched the LIC MF Technology Fund, a thematic equity scheme aimed at capturing opportunities across India’s expanding technology ecosystem.
The new fund offer will open for subscription from February 20 to March 6, 2026, and will reopen for continuous subscription and redemption from March 19, 2026. The scheme will be benchmarked against the BSE TECK Total Return Index.
Unlike traditional technology funds that focus largely on information technology services, the scheme proposes to invest across semiconductor-linked companies, data centre operators, digital commerce platforms, internet-based enterprises and emerging technology players. Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer RK Jha said the Union Budget 2026–27 has reinforced policy support for semiconductor manufacturing and digital infrastructure, creating a multi-year structural opportunity in listed technology-driven businesses.
ICICI Pru Pension Funds unveils Swasthya Pension Scheme
ICICI Prudential Pension Funds Management Company has introduced the Swasthya Pension Scheme under the regulatory sandbox framework of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority.
The scheme seeks to help subscribers build a retirement corpus while retaining flexibility to address medical expenses. PFRDA Chairman Sivasubramanian Ramann said the product aims to instil long-term savings discipline while complementing health insurance coverage. He added that there could be future consideration of verifying whether subscribers already possess health insurance before opening such accounts.
Chief Executive Officer Sumit Mohindra noted that recent reforms in the National Pension System have enabled product innovation. Highlighting the health financing gap, he said insurance penetration in the medical segment stands at about 38 per cent, with a significant portion of households still meeting hospitalisation costs through out-of-pocket spending.
