IDBI Bank Strike on November 2–3; Customers Advised to Use Digital Channels
IDBI Bank advised customers to use its digital banking channels during the bank strike scheduled for November 2 and 3, 2026, as branch operations were expected to be affected.
The bank encouraged customers to use internet banking, mobile banking and other digital services for routine transactions during the disruption. The advisory reflects the increasing role of digital channels in maintaining access to essential banking services when physical branches are unavailable.
To reduce inconvenience for customers requiring cash, IDBI Bank also announced the removal of charges for cash withdrawals from non-IDBI Bank ATMs during the strike period, subject to the applicable conditions.
The development highlights the importance of operational resilience and business continuity in banking. Labour disruptions, technology outages and other events can affect branch-based services, making alternative delivery channels an important component of continuity planning.
For banks, the ability to maintain customer access during operational disruptions depends on the resilience of digital infrastructure, ATM networks, payment systems and customer-support mechanisms.
The episode also demonstrates how banks can use digital channels to reduce dependence on physical branches for routine services. As digital banking adoption expands, maintaining the availability, cybersecurity and capacity of digital platforms becomes increasingly important.
For customers, the advisory reinforces the value of having active digital banking access and understanding alternative channels before planned or unexpected service disruptions.
