IDFC FIRST Bank Elevates Pankaj Singh as CHRO

IDFC FIRST Bank has elevated Pankaj Singh as its Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective April 27, 2026, reinforcing the private sector lender’s focus on internal leadership development and succession planning.

Singh has been associated with the bank in senior human resources leadership roles and will now lead its overall people agenda. His elevation is also aimed at ensuring continuity in the bank’s HR strategy as financial institutions increasingly focus on workforce transformation, leadership development and organisational capability.

The appointment is part of a planned leadership transition. Adrian Andrade, the outgoing CHRO, will move into a strategic role reporting to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer ahead of his planned superannuation. This arrangement is expected to facilitate an orderly transition while retaining senior institutional expertise within the organisation.

Singh brings more than 24 years of experience across banking, financial services and consumer finance. His areas of experience include talent management, leadership development, organisational transformation and people strategy.

During his career, he has held leadership positions with organisations including Standard Chartered, Royal Bank of Scotland Business, Capital First, Indiabulls Consumer Finance and IDFC FIRST Bank. His experience across different financial services businesses gives him exposure to both established banking environments and rapidly evolving consumer finance operations.

As CHRO, Singh will oversee key areas including talent development, leadership capability building, organisational culture, workforce transformation and human capital strategy. These functions have assumed greater importance for banks as digital transformation changes operating models, employee skill requirements and customer-service expectations.

On the academic front, Singh holds a Master’s degree in Human Resource Development and Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. He has also undertaken programmes in people analytics and behavioural assessment associated with Coursera, Gallup and CEB, now part of Gartner.

The leadership transition reflects IDFC FIRST Bank’s emphasis on developing senior talent internally while maintaining continuity in its human capital strategy.
