3 Regional Rural Banks sponsored by Indian Bank

Indian Bank has sponsored three RRBs, one each in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and UT of Puducherry. GoI, as part of rationali-sation of RRBs with an aim to bring it down to 38 from 56 in the country, proposed to amalgamate Pallavan Grama Bank (sponsored by Indian Bank) and Pandiyan Grama Bank (sponsored by IOB) in the State of Tamil Nadu. Both the RRBs in Tamil Nadu were in different CBS platform.

In recognition of Indian bank’s strong financials, predominant presence in the state and preference among a larger section of populace in Tamil Nadu, Indian Bank was entrusted with the coveted responsibility of being sponsor bank for the amalgamated Regional Rural Bank ‘Tamil Nadu Grama Bank’.
