Income Tax Survey at Jaisalmer Cooperative Bank
A five-member team from the Income Tax Department’s Jodhpur unit conducted a two-day survey at the main branch of Jaisalmer Central Cooperative Bank to examine allegedly suspicious accounts and financial transactions.
The inquiry is connected to an earlier operation at the Jaisalmer sub-registrar’s office, where officials reportedly seized more than 170 property registration documents considered suspicious.
During the bank survey, officials examined transactions of ₹2 lakh and above and verified account records, movement of funds and transactions linked to government schemes.
The exercise appears to be aimed at tracing whether the funds associated with the property documents were routed through accounts maintained at the cooperative bank.
The bank’s Managing Director, Ved Prakash Saini, said the institution fully cooperated with the Income Tax officials and provided all documents requested during the survey.
The development highlights the importance of transaction monitoring, customer due diligence and record-keeping controls within cooperative banks. Institutions handling government-linked funds and high-value transactions require effective systems for identifying unusual account activity and responding to regulatory inquiries.
