Fir lodged for ornaments ‘go missing’ from private bank locker

Manju Agarwal, earlier resident of Kolkata, Old China Bazar area recently lodged an FIR at the Burrabazar Police Station when noticed ornaments of Rs. 25 lakhs go missing from her locker at a private bank account.

According to the complaint, police said, “The victim had last accessed her locker on January 2016. She had decided to close her locker and went to withdraw her deposits last Tuesday. It was then that she finally found out about the missing ornaments. The first job will be to establish the veracity of the claims. If found true, we are preparing a list of persons who need to be questioned,” said a senior officer at Lalbazar.

“On the face of it, is very difficult to break in a bank locker,” an officer, who spoke to the bank officials, said. “However enquiries are on,” he added.

For awareness, the agreement of a leading private sector bank says, “The bank shall not be responsible or liable for any loss or deterioration of or damage to the contents of the locker whether caused by rain, fire, flood, earthquake, lightning, civil commotion, war, riot or any other causes not in the control of the bank and shall also not be liable or responsible for any loss, sustained by the hirers by leaving any articles outside the locker.”
